Dillon Beach, CA 1997

My name is Sarah Wolf and I'm a fourth year PhD Candidate at Oregon State University studying marine microbiology.

I'm originally from Sacramento, CA where I spent much of my time as a child exploring the North Coast. Though my path has been nonlinear, it's led me to study marine bacteria and their influence on oxygen minimum zones in the ocean.

Outreach education is a total passion project for me. When I'm not in lab, I love to think about new and engaging ways to get kids excited about current research science. My goal is to increase access to research science and exposure to STEM careers.

As a practicing Catholic, and climate scientist in training, I find it fulfilling to connect both my work and my faith using Pope Francis' encyclical, Laudato Sí, as a guide to care for our planet and one another.
